BASIC INTRODUCTION TO WATERJET CUTTING

The concept of waterjet cutting is quite simple. Here's how it works:

Generate Pressure

An ultrahigh-pressure pump generates a stream of water with pressure rated up to 94,000 psi (6,480 bar).

To put it into perspective, a fire hose contains a pressure of 390 to 1,200 psi (20 to 84 bar).

Convert Pressure into Velocity

This pressure is converted into velocity via a tiny jewel, creating a fine stream which can cut materials.

Introduce Garnet

To increase cutting power by 1,000 times, garnet is pulled into the waterjet stream.

Water and garnet then exit the cutting head at nearly four times the speed of sound, capable of cutting steel, stone, in fact pretty much anything.

DRAWING

If you know what you need and you have your own drawing in a
DXF file then just email the file directly.  We then upload the file to the specialist software, transfer to the water cutters computer and calculate the cutting time. We can then give an accurate quote.
If you do not have access to a DXF file of what you need then just email us a sketch with measurements.  We can then get this drawn in house and saved as a DXF file for you.

CUTTING

Once the file is loaded onto the water cutters computer, we select the materials to be used, the machine then automatically calculates the amount of abrasive and pressure needed to achieve the best possible cut. The head is then homed on the machine bed and then again on the material being used and the cutting process can be started.

FINISHING

Once the cut has finished the item is removed and then cleaned or polished to the clients requirements.
